The Duchess of York devotes much of her life to charitable causes and through the Sarah Ferguson Foundation supports existing, qualified charities.
The Foundation is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of forgotten children throughout the world, defined as those who for whatever reason do not receive charitable assistance and whose dire living conditions are either severely neglected or completely ignored.

At the Foundation’s core is the belief that every child has the right to a happy, healthy and secure childhood and the right to achieve their full potential. The Foundation also believes that the welfare of every child is the responsibility of every adult.

The Sarah Ferguson Foundation values and respects cultural diversity and therefore seeks to support charities that provide aid through means that are sensitive to and in keeping with cultural differences and identities.
The Duchess previously founded the London-based Children in Crisis and the New York-based
Chances for Children.

Founded by the Duchess of York in 1993, Children in Crisis' mission is to assist disadvantaged and forgotten children around the world who are suffering extreme hardship due to war, poverty or illness. Working with local partners the organization not only works to relieve the immediate suffering of the children, but strives to make a lasting impression on their lives. Children in Crisis provides education and trauma counseling as well as food and medicine. This gives children the skills they need to be able to influence their own future.

Children in Crisis currently funds projects providing shelter, healthcare and education in Poland, Russia, Afghanistan, China and Sierra Leone as well as the UK.
Chances for Children was established by the Duchess in 1994 as a non-profit organization devoted to children in America who are neglected, abused and abandoned and to children who are affected by the HIV/AIDS virus.

To achieve its mission the Foundation's sole purpose is to allocate contributions derived from The Duchess of York's commercial activities internationally.
A portion of the proceeds from Sarah's Collection will be donated to the Sarah Ferguson Foundation.
